'Method to the Madness' gibi nodelar ile total hasarını uçurabiliyorsun hit buildinde. Hatta hit+dot bile gidebilirsin. ' Well.. Not so much anymore. I used to like this combo of CA + ED, since pre-3.0 both scaled off the same things. So pathing for Pierce, getting a bunch of Projectile damage nodes, using items like Winds of Change/Brinerot Whalers/Karui Ward etc. Would all scale both CA and ED. However, with 3.0, ED is no longer affected by Projectile damage (Well, the DoT portion isn't, which is the only part worth crap on the skill outside of multi-dip Poison in 2.6) so you're reliant on Chaos/DoT/Spell damage. Which is quite limited if you're going a right side CA build (You have Method to the Madness, Growth and Decay, Entropy and maybe Atrophy. With Corruption being way far away and Dirty Techniques being reworked) The next things would be choices between Spell Damage or Area Damage, which will only affect 1 skill. It doesn't help that a large portion of the new skill gems to help DoTs out are focused around Ailments either.. Meaning Poison which CA isn't particularly good at providing (Especially given its rather clunky targeting when trying to hit a target..) and ED often relies on The Consuming Dark for its Poison because it frees up a gem socket. Like, trying to make a CA build that uses ED on PoB I look at the numbers, then I make a ED+Contagion build that can focus fully onto Spell Damage, with free Poison from The Consuming Dark and it's like.. Why bother faffing around with CA and trying to grab a +3 bow for less optimal numbers.. | Posted by on Jul 7, 2017, 8:07:23 AM |
I think the single target side is actually getting improvement. I never entered ranger tree or below so I think projectile damage is not a big deal. Can get about 400% increased chaos damage, damage over time without entering ranger tree. The jewel with 5% dmg per 10 int can easily get 30-40% dmg in the top slot. Only about 60% increased damage will not apply to ed/decay (area and shadow proj), and in 3.0 maybe some of the nodes leading up to the pierces. On a side note, occultist pure ed got a lot of quality of life previously from having pierce and or +1 projectile, just so if profane bloom procs on the first mob, they can rely on a mob behind spreading the ED instead.. probably they will want to be grabbing pierce cluster anyways because the gem won't provide any damage. Also instead of essence drain you use a decay gem with ice shot or puncture or even split arrow, or even swap into main links. Hopefully in a delirium gloves too or something. Or can even use both, or a decay applying ED. but at that point there will be struggle to have sockets for curses, auras, triggers, golems, wither totem.. CA actually has pretty decent aoe. Even more so if you use profane bloom (yeah I know there are more ascendencies but I think occultist was more flexible. Will definitely be weaker now and struggle to even hit 7k es though.) I full timed conc effect because i'm poor and will never bother leveling an empower, and the radius is still pretty satisfactory. It was a long time ago though, in perandus league. Changes to pierce sort of seem to benefit CA now too. If you get pierce cluster you pretty much have enough: +3 pierces basically means makes 2-3 clouds per shot (accuracy is annoying). Even better if you got +1 arrows Since CA wasn't offscreening (hitting) anything either. So you no longer need pierce gem, hopefully can slot something better. No clue how drillneck options are gonna work with the new pierce though. Maybe its something like +5% inc damage per max pierce. | Posted by on Jul 7, 2017, 8:43:02 AM |
' One of the things which I dont like about the current PoE is the 'one skill for everything'. In 2.6 CA was different as going for CA damage passives/gear also worked well for a double dipping single target skill. But in 3.0 this is no longer true. Or rephrased: I would prefer it if the game design would rather allow for multi skill use builds. ' IMO evidence (skills like Blade Flurry) shows otherwise. I dont know if they 'like' it - but certainly they were instrumental in making it happen. ' The new Decay is much worse than in 2.6 due to DoT scaling changes. Unless there is some recent change to Decay which I dont know? ' They also killed part of the synergy with ED - proj damage no longer works on ED. Sure using 1 weak DoT (CA) & 1 very weak DoT (Decay) and ED (without much spell damage) is more DPS than just CA. But with the 100+% more life on bosses? No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle! | Posted by Zrevnur on Jul 7, 2017, 12:20:51 PM |
i have lvl 26 caustic arrow and it struggles with some rare monsters in shaped strand not to mention the two bosses. that is with vulnerability + wither totem + shocked ground traps. i have therefore decided not to invest anymore in the charachter. Shppy's idea of using caustic arrow makes more sense. Last edited by kompaniet on Jul 7, 2017, 12:35:13 PM | Posted by kompaniet on Jul 7, 2017, 12:33:47 PM |
' Could be, idk. But I do know i have made a build oriented around decay in 2.6 that didn't really use anything else for damage that did just fine without benefiting from projectile damage, just Chaos and DoT everywhere. I *did* have about 75% increased projectile damage in that tree, but i also used GMP, which gave 26% less and way-more-than offset the increased proj damage, so proj damage affecting decay actually hurt that build. (I did the math on it, that particular build will gain about 20% more decay dps now that projectile damage doesn't influence decay. I might do it again next league.) ' Yeah, ima defer to my above point with the build just using decay, it's pretty reasonable to just build/gear for DoT and chaos instead of bothering with projectile and spell damage that would only affect one skill. Hang out in the shadow area gathering all the chaos and DoT up there, use a cherrubim's, maybe toss in a natural hierarchy or some %chaos dmg essence rings (or heups). Idk. I did it all as a zerker too, so that 40% more helped a lot, probably more so than any other ascendancy. Lotta travel to get to the shadow but there's a bunch of solid life on the way, so it was cool. As for the higher boss life? Well.. i'll take that with a grain of salt right now. Seems like a lot of people are dissatisfied with the boss fights, both in mechanical and balance terms. Have to wait and see how they rebalance things in wave 4 or whatever. | Posted by Shppy on Jul 7, 2017, 7:55:29 PM |
' If they revert the boss health CA looks a lot better. And your setup too. (I would rather prefer the game made harder than easier. But only giving bosses more HP isnt what I would have done.) No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle! | Posted by Zrevnur on Jul 7, 2017, 8:19:31 PM |
